Resident of Paradise Row - London Restaurant Review

The Smoked Pork Croquettes with BBQ beer sauce were generous in size and packed a rich, meaty punch whilst the Fried Squid with naga chilli mayo (£8) was a lighter alternative and offered an appetising juxtaposition of crispy batter, soft fish and spicy kick in each mouthful.
We were sold on the smooth Resident Rose Sour (Rose Champagne Syrup, Lemon, Woodford Reserve, sugar, egg white) and smoky Charred Fig Sour (Sweet figs, fig liqueur, Dewar’s Whisky 12yo, lemon, sugar, egg whites).
To follow I chose the Apple smoked old spot Pork Belly with spring greens, roasted apple and black pudding chutney, braising liquor and crackling.
The tangy chutney was the perfect accompaniment for the tender pork belly and the juicy crackling left me too satisfied to feel guilty.
Serving up hearty British dishes in a shabby-chic environment, Resident of Paradise Row knows that flavour combinations speak louder than over the top décor.

A cocktail bar, restaurant and purveyor of beers on Paradise Row, just up from Bethnal Green tube.
It certainly looks the part, with its high ceiling arching over chesterfield sofas, a statement bar and dining tables and chairs with more than a hint of the 50s about them.
Dishes range from a Devon crab salad or potted pork with cornichons and soda bread to whole roasted sea bass with salsify, crispy shallots and burned lime, and Gloucester Old Spot pork belly with kale, cherry tomatoes and a garlic and mustard mash.
The drinks selection features a range of classic cocktails, including house margaritas, daiquiris and old fashions, as well as an 'ethical' espresso martini - made with Fair quinoa vodka, Fair coffee liqueur and coffee from Counter Coffee, just round the corner.
A decent wine list and bottled beers are also on offer.
